Benny the Highland Coo

A colourful, furry puppet coo to teach young children

A short presentation that was filmed as part of the coursework.

This classic rod puppet was created for the graded unit of my first year studying model making. The brief was to create a puppet that could be used to teach young children about a mental health topic.

My character, named Benny, is a highland coo inspired by the paintings by Steven Brown and Jane Birrell. He has a very friendly feel to him and is very easy to operate.

The puppet is now owned by NEW Solutions, a mental health and wellbeing support organisation working in schools and communities, based out of Montrose.
