Pneumodesmus Newmani

A scaled up model of what one of the earliest air breathing land animals could have looked like

This is a scaled up model of Pneumodesmus Newmani, a prehistoric millipede. It is one of the earliest known air breathing land animals, found in a fossil in Cowie, close to my hometown in Aberdeenshire. It was made as part of a project for the HND Model Making course at COGC in 2019/20.

The brief was to create a model or prop with a focus on Scottish history. The bold leafy display gives the creature context while showing off the body well.
