Millennium Bridge, Gateshead

Tilting architectural model of the Millennium Bridge, Gateshead, Scale 1:250

600mm x 520mm x 250mm

This design blends details from the real Millennium Bridge in Gateshead with specifications provided by its original architects, Wilkinson Eyre. Because the final bridge evolved from those early plans, I worked between the versions, taking some creative liberties to produce a cohesive model.

The model tilts at the same angle as the actual bridge, allowing boats to pass beneath via the water-level guides. Eighteen suspension cables link the twin decks to the sweeping support arch.

Thanks to 4D Modelshop for their brass etch components and to Catherine Moyes at Wilkinson Eyre for her support.

The project log for this model can be found through this link “HERE”
